Facebook has released a facial recognition technology to the public for some time now.

 

Development of face recognition is designed to accelerate the process of labeling photos which users upload.

The technology works like this: scans the photos uploaded recently, compares persons with previous images you uploaded and then tries to match the person, proposing names of your friends.

When a match is found, Facebook notifies the user to validate the person shown in the photo.
